SLO Psychedelic Society members focus on building community, education, harm reduction and advocacy in areas such as the Decrim Nature initiative. We organize events that facilitate connection with self, others, and nature, ranging from in-person workshops to online integration circles.
Here is an example breakdown of what Psychedelic Society members do:
Community Building & Connection: They create safe spaces for people to connect, share experiences, and find support, often organizing social events, nature walks, and, for members, access to specialized online platforms.
Integration Circles: Members participate in, or facilitate, integration circles to help people process their experiences and apply insights into daily life.
Education and Safety: They provide, share, and promote educational resources regarding safe and responsible usage, including information on set and setting, harm reduction, and the latest research.
Events and Workshops: Members attend or host a variety of events, including talks on science and mental health, meditation, breath-work, conscious being, and art/movement workshops.
Advocacy and Policy Reform: Some subcommittees of membership may work on an initiative to advocate for the decriminalization, destigmatization, and legal, evidenced-based access to psychedelics.
Supporting Research & Cultural Change: We support scientific research into the therapeutic potential of psychedelics (e.g., for PTSD, depression) and work to shift public understanding toward a more nuanced, "soul-revealing" perspective.
Advocating for Indigenous Rights: Many groups emphasize respecting and protecting the traditions and lineages of indigenous, plant-based medicine.
In essence, members of the SLO Psychedelic Society aim to foster a "conscious community" that supports the integration of these powerful tools for well-being and personal development
Memberships are renewed annually.
We advocate for education, harm reduction, and policy reform around naturally occurring psychedelic medicines, while honoring Indigenous traditions and prioritizing public health, racial justice, and community safety. Engaging in safe communication, advocacy for the decriminalization of psychedelic medicines is an ongoing effort.
