The Decrim Nature initiative in San Luis Obispo is a community-led effort working to restore our relationship with nature and advocate for the decriminalization of entheogenic plants and fungi. As part of the SLO Psychedelic Society, our Decrim Nature team hosts monthly gatherings focused on education, community dialogue, and civic engagement.
Our mission is to support a future where natural entheogenic plants and fungi are treated with respect rather than criminalization. For centuries, cultures around the world have worked with these natural organisms for healing, spiritual connection, and personal growth. Today, a growing body of research and lived experience suggests they may also play a meaningful role in improving mental health, well-being, and our connection to the natural world.
Through community education and thoughtful advocacy, our goal is to present a local resolution to the San Luis Obispo City Council that would make the enforcement of laws against entheogenic plants and fungi among the city’s lowest priorities.
At its heart, this movement is about restoring our root connection to nature, supporting human health and well-being, and creating compassionate policies grounded in science, tradition, and community values.
Join our monthly Decrim Nature meetings to:
Learn about the history, science, and cultural significance of entheogenic plants and fungi
Participate in open community discussions
Help shape a thoughtful local policy proposal
Support education and outreach efforts across San Luis Obispo
Together, we can help create a more informed and compassionate approach to natural medicines while strengthening our connection to nature and community.
